ACN Philippines launches recollection prayer concert for coronavirus cause

As a response to the widespread impact of the coronavirus pandemic, papal charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Philippines launches its first-ever online recollection prayer concert on August 15, 8:00 PM on the Feast of the Assumption.

The event will be hosted by Filipino performance artist Ms. Cris Villonco, and ACN President Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan will lead the reflection. The evening will also be graced with the presence of His Eminence, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.

Without a doubt, the coronavirus pandemic we now currently face has swept the world off its daily system. Every region in the world has been, one by one, placed in different modes of quarantine. Positive cases surged everywhere, and percentages of fatality show how deadly the virus can be. It does not choose, and it does not exempt. Old and young, male or female, poor or rich – including the front-liners, officials of governments, as well as priests, religious and laity serving in and with the Church. The uncertainties wreaked by coronavirus, however, should not adversely affect our faith. As an institution comparable to a rock, with Jesus Christ as the head, the Church must continue to be a global sacrament of hope and help.

Entitled Hoping, Healing, Helping: One Church Against COVID-19, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), in its mission to help the suffering Church organizes a recollection concert intended to help us get through this dire situation in the light of the gospel. And with our gaze fixed in the most Merciful Heart of Jesus, receive healing, restore our hope and share in the suffering of our brothers and sisters through our prayers and our expression of concrete help.

The concert will feature guest performances by C5 Singers, The Levites from the Diocese of Malolos, Fr. Giuseppe Pietro Arsciwals, OP, priests from the San Carlos Seminary, and priests from the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. Special songs will also be performed by Ms. Cris Villonco and renowned inspirational singer Ms. Jamie Rivera. The event will be aired live via ACN’s official Facebook page, accessible through:
