First institutionalized Red Wednesday launches with Christmas concert

Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Philippines, papal charity foundation for the suffering Church, has once again launched “Red Wednesday”, an annual campaign for persecuted Christians worldwide.

Happening on 25 November, Red Wednesday 2020 is themed “Red Means Love: One Church Against COVID-19” and is dedicated not only to the persecuted, but also to the recent victims of typhoons, COVID-19 victims, and our front-liners. The 2020 celebration is also slated to be the first-ever institutionalized celebration in the Philippines, where all dioceses and parishes will participate.

Churches, shrines, and participating hospitals will be decorated and lit in red, simultaneous with the 6PM Red Wednesday mass. This will be followed by a Recollection Concert at 8PM, with Msgr. Gerardo Santos as Recollection Master and Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of the Diocese of Kalookan for the reflections.

Performing artists include Kantabella, Young Voices of the Philippines, selected priests from the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan, and Mr. Jose Mari Chan, joined by his family.
