Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is a pontifical foundation and an international Catholic charity which supports pastoral aid projects for the poor and persecuted Church throughout the world.
Our work focuses on assisting the Church wherever it is persecuted or oppressed by terror and violence. Through regular reports in the media, we give the suffering Church a voice that stands out in the flood of daily information, and also calls on people to pray for persecuted Christians. Our response to individual requests for assistance that reach ACN from around the world is determined by the pastoral nature of the project.
The triad INFORMATION-PRAYER-ACTION is a central leitmotif in determining ACN’s support of the Church. In the spirit of trust in God and brotherly love, the papal foundation helps dioceses and the Church all over the world to bring people the good news of the kingdom of God – especially in those places where the Church suffers from persecution or material poverty.
ACN is exclusively financed from private donations which are collected in 23 offices in Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania. Since its foundation 70 years ago, Aid to Church in Need has developed into an organization with a broad range of tasks. It now supports some 6,000 Catholic projects each year in over 140 countries—many of these over the long term.
